1997 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am. 350ci LT1 6 speed
I purchased this Pontiac Trans-Am in 2003 and since then much time and money
has been spent on improvements and modifications.
The 5.7L V8 (LT1) engine is very powerful and will surprise cars costing much more.
This car also has the 6 speed manual transmission, which makes it slightly more rare than the more usual automatic's.
The interior is factory finished in red leather. This option is very rare, even in its native USA.
I am aware of two other red leather Trans-Am’s in the UK, and both those cars are automatic.
The car is a T-top car with sunshades.

This car has been a constant evolvement of improvements over the stock car at great cost to me.

The maintenance:
I am very meticulous about maintenance.
Below is an example of what has been done over the last 18 months, not because it needed doing, but because I wanted to do it.
Oil & Filter changed yearly (low yearly mileage)
Upper & Lower ball joints changed in March this year
Outer track rod ends changed in March this year
Gearbox oil changed over the winter
Rear diff oil changed over the winter with GM additive
Coolant changed winter 2008/9 - GM Dexcool
Brake fluid changed March this year
Spark plugs supposed to be good for 100K but changed at 55K
The bad bits:
The paint is 13 years and not without the odd blemish.
The rear end does whine - maybe the Richmond gears or maybe the pinion depth (work performed by Alders Automatics)
Speedo reads wrong following gear change.
Needs A/C recharge but does have a brand new compressor fitted.
Nothing major and good enough to win Best 90's (POC Billing Summer 2006), Best 4th Gen (POC Billing Summer 2009).
Very fast, handles like you would not believe and a very regrettable sale but its time for a change.
Current mileage is approx 60K.
MOT until April 2011, Tax until Sept 2010
